Epic Slaanesh Warlord Conversion
by Audrey Ewing
This is probably the first conversion article I did for my old website and what original gave birth to the idea of doing a website, but it never was made public as I had planned on getting it painted before putting it up. That time never came and a few years have now passed. I figure I will at least show the conversion though it still sits sadly unpainted.
I have always liked the 3rd generation GW Warlord titan for epic better than the old “beetle back” 1st generation Warlord. Every Epic player should have a big titan for their army. So decided to create a Slannesh Chaos Warlord for my chaos marine. I do like the metal chaos bits that GW had made long ago for the “beetle back” Warlord and I wanted to use some of them with the new titan. So off to my bits box to see what I can dig up. All in all this is a pretty easy conversion and I did it in an evening.
First I got a regular Warlord Titan. The picture shows all the original pieces that came with it.
After digging through my bits boxes here is what I came up with. The three metal pieces are from the original chaos add-ons for the “beetle back” Warlord Titan. I do not care for the long shoulder cannons that come with the basic Warlord Titan. So I found a lot of weapon bits from the Battlefleet Gothic sprues to put in the place of the shoulder cannons. Then for little extra “chaosy bits” I got pieces from the 40k Chaos vehicle sprue.
I wanted to use the claw arm because it is nice and Slaanesh looking, but it needed updating to match the 3rd gen Warlord. Cutting off the tip of the Left Warlord arm I was able to transplant the Claw to match nicely. I also wanted to keep the arm as a shooting weapon. I took one of the shoulder cannons and mounted it armor “forearm” plate. Then I attached some power cables (made from guitar string) going from the arm to the cannons. Voila a new Slaanesh claw arm for my titan.
I assembled the Warlord legs, torso and upper armor as normal, of course being sure to remove those nasty Imperial eagles. I glued on the right arm as normal and attached my modified left chaos claw. The chaos tail was just a simple pinning job. I added the BFG weapons to the upper armor for my weapon batteries. I cut off some of the tab at the back of the Slaanesh titan head and then pinned it into place. All that was left is to glue on some appropriate chaos chains and spikes and then add battle damage to the model. Everything all together makes a rather nice Slaanesh Warlord Titan using the 3rd gen Warlord model. All Finished!!!
